Some important notes and updates to the RGPS Day on 9th March Friday.

1) You must reply via email to Mrs Faizal (zairinah_faizal@moe.edu.sg) with the following information if you are coming on 9th March.

This is VERY IMPORTANT. If you do not register as above, you will not be permitted to enter the school on 9th March.

You will be informed at a later date of the classes you are joining to share your stories of your RGPS days.

2) Only ex-RGPS girls are permitted to join in this event. Your friends who are not from RGPS are not permitted to follow you to enter the school.

3) The RGPS event is a voluntary event and there is no exemption from your current secondary school activities or for leaving your current secondary school early.

4) There are no CIP hours awarded.

We trust that you understand these measures are necessary for us to ensure the safety of our RGPS girls in school and are required for the event organizers to arrange the logistics of the event.

Dear Alumni Members

As the current school year draws to a close, I'm sure members with daughters already in RGPS are relieved that exams are over and are looking forward to the school holidays.

For those of you whose daughters are entering P1 next year, we welcome you and hope to see you at the P1 Orientation this Friday afternoon.

We would like to organize an informal gathering so that our P1 girls could mingle and make friends. Additionally our members could also connect with each other.

Dear JMs,

We are looking for volunteers to share tips of how to deal with preparing PSLE with the P6s.  Last year, we had a great time playing games, sharing and bonding.  What's more, 7 CIP hours will be given with certificate of participation for selected participants.  In addition, there will be talks on Character Development and Public Speaking too.

The participation dates are:
17 June – 8.30am to 12.30pm (AVA Room)
24 June – 1.30pm to 4.30pm (ISH LECTURE HALL)

In order to qualify for the full 7 CIP hours, you are required to attend on BOTH days or you could be penalized for future CIP related events.

The following information is required for completing the CIP forms:

We will be holding both our Junior Members (JM) AGM and Life Members (LM) AGM on 26 March from 9am to 12pm, AVA Room, Level 1.  In this instance, we would like to invite 4 ex-prefects/ambassadors to give a school tour to the potential P1s and their families and to help out with taking care of younger children (a set of art & craft will be given to them) while their parents attend the LM-AGM.
 
These ex-prefects/ambassadors will be awarded 3 CIP hrs for this exercise and of course, not forgettng a sumptuous buffet lunch will be provided as well.
 
In addition, extra CIP points will be given if you step forward to be a committee member during the election on 26 Mar.  I would be grateful if you could assist further by contacting your ex-classmates/friends informing them about this exciting event.

Dear members, this notice is pertaining to those registering their daughters this year (2011) for Primary One which is due to start in 2012. We will pass the letter acknowledging your membership status for purpose of 2A1 registration to you only during the registration date in July 2011. The actual date will be announced by MOE sometime in June 2011.

Once the actual date is announced, we will require you to RSVP.

Dear Fellow Alumni,

 

Thank you for your time at our recent Alumni AGM. At the same time, I am sure you enjoyed the inspiring speech on “The Redwoods” by the school Principal. We are extremely elated to share with you that we had overwhelming attendance during this year’s AGM.

 

This year, we had several new faces that came forward to serve their alma mater without any hesitation. As such, we have 14 committee members taking office.

 

The new committee members are as follow:-

As you are aware the school aims to raise $200,000 within these 2 years to support more special programmes and enhance the learning environment. Part of the funds will be used to install 2 big fans in the hall to improve ventilation. This will make the hall more comfortable for all especially the lower primary girls who use the place daily and the P6 girls who take their listening comprehension exams there. They also hope to offer more leadership programmes to the girls and move into the use of mobile devices in our lessons. Fund raising will be done through:-

 

·        Card Donation (April)

 

·        Fantasia 2010 Concert (27 May, Thursday)

 

RGPS will showcase pupils’ talents in the Fantasia 2010 Concert to be held in Mrs Lee Choon Guan Concert Hall (ACS Barker Road), 7.30 – 9.30pm, featuring all SYF participating groups and Drama Club. Alumni will blast out emails with more details wrt the above.

 

 

Last but not least, we would like to thank you for your big support and patience. The school committee has selflessly given the alumni the Redwoods spirit. With this, we would like continue to work with everyone to bring the school to new heights like the Redwoods. And continue to build the alumni base like the Giant Sequoia.

Dear RGPS Batch'08,

 On 07 Nov(this Saturday), the selection of Class ICs for the Junior Alumni Committee will be held. That means we are revamping the Committee to be made up of CLASS ICs insead of SCHOOL ICs. We believe that this will facilitate more effective message-relaying among JMs as YOU ALL LOVE YOUR P6 CLASSES DONT YOU. (:

 What we hope to achieve through this 'revamping' is a close-knit and efficient Committee with responsible passionate JMs who are COMMITTED to our COMMITtee and turn up for meetings and believe in what we're doing. (BECAUSE WE'RE A BUNCH OF VERY COOL PPL!). :D

 And by being in the Committee, you'll have PRIVILEGES! Like having Committee lunch together, coming up with creative ideas for your alma mater and ex-classmates and have FUN with us along the way. Dear Members,

 

In celebration of our school's 50th anniversary, we are delighted to present to you, a choral performance by our choir, entitled 'Rhapsody of Colours'.

This would be an opportunity for you to catch our award winning RGPS Choir. The school Choir has had a record of 4 consecutive SYF Gold Awards, and at the recent 2008 SYF, Gold with Honours Award. We were also awarded PSE for the choir in 2008.

At this Choral Performance, our choir will perform an eclectic selection of songs, ranging from classical to sacred to contemporary music.

 

In addition, the RGPS Alumni Junior Members will be performing two songs!!!

 

We hope you and your family can join us for this memorable event and here are the details of the performance as follows:

Venue: Victoria Concert Hall

You'll get to play interactive and meaningful games with the batch'09 of your former class, share with them your PSLE experiences and encourage them to reach greater heights in the upcoming PSLE. :D CIP hours will also be awarded to you! :D Excuse letters will be given for whatever school-related activities you might have on that day. (e.g. CCA, Third Language...) So gather up all your old primary school classmates and sign up together for this two and a half hours of AWESOMENESS! :D
